Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Volunteer Sports Psychologist to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with athletes across various sports, providing psychological support and guidance to enhance their mental well-being, performance, and overall sporting experience.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Psychological Assessment: Conduct assessments to evaluate the psychological needs and performance levels of athletes, identifying areas for improvement.

2. Individual Consultations: Offer one-on-one consultations to athletes, providing tailored strategies to manage anxiety, improve focus, and enhance motivation.

3. Group Workshops: Develop and facilitate workshops and training sessions on topics such as mental resilience, goal setting, and teamwork dynamics.

4. Collaboration:Work alongside coaches, trainers, and other support staff to integrate psychological principles into training programmes and athlete development plans.

5. Performance Enhancement: Provide techniques for mental preparation and recovery to optimise athletes’ performance during competitions.

6. Research and Development: Stay updated on the latest research in sports psychology and contribute to the development of programmes that support athlete mental health.

7. Confidentiality Management: Maintain strict confidentiality of all athlete interactions and records in accordance with ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

A degree in Psychology (preferably with a focus on sports psychology).

Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., British Psychological Society) is desirable.

Experience working with athletes or in a sports environment is an advantage.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team structure.

A passion for sport and helping others achieve their potential.
